Extension of the L’esplanade shopping centre in Louvain-la-Neuve

As a result of the centre’s commercial success, since its opening about ten years ago, the owner of this shopping centre wanted to increase the GLA by about 20,000 sq.m.

The project is so complex because it must be completed without interrupting the ongoing retail activity and without forcing the shops in the centre to provisionally move.

The shopping centre’s location above a municipal road, a SNCB station and in the vicinity of the Belgacom building only adds to the project’s environmental constraints and means a compromise will have to be negotiated at every stage.
